ALCOMET and the Society

As a socially responsible company, ALCOMET aims at being integral part of civil society through supporting a variety of non-profit initiatives. The social responsibility to the society underlies the business strategy of ALCOMET. This strategy includes objectives such as increase in local employment rate, support of publicly important and useful initiatives and efficient support to local educational, medical, cultural, social and other institutions. At the same time, ALCOMET actively participates in the promotion, preparation and implementation of projects and programs directed at young people, children’s education and sports development.

The Company supports a number of social and public causes on regional level in the following main fields: childcare, assistance to people in unequal position, healthcare and treatment, charity, arts and culture, environmental protection, etc.

In consideration of the active participation of ALCOMET as a social partner of a number of public initiatives, in 2009 the Company was awarded the Donor of the Year Prize by Shumen Municipality for the third consecutive year.

ALCOMET and Internal Corporate Policy

The Management of ALCOMET do believe that the commitments of a socially responsible company start from the internal corporate relations and subsequently comprise the initiatives within the other circles of the society. Therefore, the Company has set clear objectives as to the effective management of human resources. Some of these objectives are the increase in employees’ contentment and motivation and the establishment of excellent working environment ensuring safe and healthy labour conditions. The Company takes cares of the protection of each employee’s human rights, the proper assessment of individual differences and the giving of opportunities for development of each employee regardless of nationality, views, religion, origin and age.
 
The social commitment to the employees and the striving for becoming an attractive working place for young people form part of the mission of ALCOMET as well. Therefore, the Company provides its employees with a full package of fringe benefits, including free-of-charge medical and dentist assistance, qualification promotion courses and food vouchers. Being aware of the fact that its employees need relax to be efficient at work, the Company takes care of their free time by organizing a traditional sports holiday, New Year parties, children’s parties and other events for their families.

ALCOMET pays special attention to the issues of ecology and environmental protection. The principles governing the ensuring of sustainable environmental development and finding and applying efficient solutions to increase the potential for environmental protection in and near the regions of the works and Shumen are among the key principles of the investment program of the Company.

As a socially responsible company, ALCOMET builds its relations with business partners, suppliers and customers on the basis of honesty, performs its commitments, refrain from non-ethical behaviour, avoids conflicts of interest and aims at transparent business and financial relations.
